Vox Hunt: Outta My Way
Show us something that is standing in your way.
the university, and a fucking degree from this place. so my parents don't want me to drop out? but really, i feel no reason to be there. i'm ready to move on, find something to do with my life. whore up to some recording studios, try to become their lackey. just to get myself in the door.
and my parents know how hard it is for me to stay in school without my job recording. essentially, i'm majoring in film because it's the closest degree we have to radio. shit, they're in the same building. and plus, a degree in news & documentary will probably look good to XM or NPR.
but now, my parents are suggesting i go and get a masters in journalism?! fucking ridiculous. i already have wasted too many years in this place. i'm not getting any fucking younger. god damn. i'm only 20, and i feel like i've wasted my entire life. that's pretty sad.
also, just becase i hate this picture soooo much... here is our mascot, Sparty the Spartan, showing how to use the parking deck. apparently, spartans drive convertables?

BTW, I didn't major in radio, but I did do volunteer work at KFSR 90.7 FM, my schedule was midnight to 2am on Thursday, and I never thought anyone listened to my show - but I did have local listeners, and it was fun for a while.
Is it a secret what station you work at? You said Langhorne is amazing, he's certainly great live and as I mentioned, I don't have his album. I should look into this, but seeing as I'm far behind on my music review...

i work at WUAG (www.wuag.net), UNCGs radio station. we're really to have an amazing set up where we can have bands come in and record. we've been putting out compilation cds every year, this being our 5th year. this year had blonde redhead on it (which was amazing to record..) and there's a small writeup in pitchfork.
langhorne is big in north carolina. he's got ties to the avett brothers and paleface, who just moved down here. i was trying to think of what you should look into getting, but all of his stuff is great. the electric love letter EP may be my favorite though.
